What is WorthBook, and who is it for?
WorthBook is an iPhone app for tracking net worth and keeping financial records. It brings account balances, investments and debts together to calculate net worth. It is useful if you have several bank, investment or foreign-currency accounts and want to see them in one place.
How is net worth tracking different from expense tracking?
Expense tracking records income and spending over a period. Net worth is the value of your assets minus your debts on a given date. WorthBook supports both. You can simply update account balances without recording every daily transaction.
How are currencies converted? Are exchange rates live?
Each account has its own currency. Totals use the exchange rates you set. Supported currencies are HKD, USD, CNY, JPY, EUR, GBP, SGD, AUD, CAD and TWD. You enter and update exchange rates yourself; they are not live market quotes.
Does WorthBook connect to banks or update investment prices?
No. You do not need to share banking passwords. Update account balances, investment values and exchange rates yourself. You can also import accounts and ledger records from CSV files.
Where is my data stored? What if I change devices?
Financial data stays on your device and is not uploaded to WorthBook servers. There is no cloud sync. Before changing devices, export a JSON backup of the current book in Settings, then import it on the new device. Export each book separately if you have more than one. Back up before changing devices or deleting the app.
Which devices and languages are supported? What does it cost?
The app supports Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and English, with light and dark modes. For device compatibility, pricing and in-app purchases, see the App Store listing.
